About LauraLaura’s curiosity for pottery began as a child while venturing to art shows with her mother, who is also an artist. Years later, in 1991, after receiving an MBA from Cleveland State University, Laura decided to act upon her curiosity and enroll in pottery classes as a part-time student at The Ohio State University. Laura developed a passion for pottery and wanted nothing more than to throw pots for the rest of her life. Over the years, Laura’s creativity with clay has led her to experiment outside of just throwing pots, as she now produces a full line of clay jewelry as well.
In October of 2011, Laura opened her first shoptique, Made With Clay, in a newly renovated four-story building called MONDO, nestled in the heart of downtown Summit, New Jersey. Made with Clay currently carries Laura’s stoneware pottery items, her clay jewelry, and Summit gifts. A comment from Laura: “A customer once asked me how long it took to make the mug she had just purchased. I replied with a smile, ‘Twenty-four years and five minutes.’ I love my customers. They buy my pottery and jewelry, which allows me to make more.” – Laura Hanley |
